The Lip Bar is NOW at Walmart.com

I can’t even remember the first time I tried The LipBar’s famous red lipstick Bawse Lady but it has definitely been years. I’ve been wearing it so long, I remember when you could only get it as Essence Fest! So I’m very excited that the brand is now even more accessible, launching as part of Walmart’s commitment to supplier diversity and racial equity. I always pair it with The Lip Bar’s Straight Line No Smudge Lip Liner in Straight Face or sometimes I pair it Straight No Chaser to deepen it up to give a vampy look.

As a storyteller, you know I am always interested in the story behind the brand. I found out that the founder, Melissa Butler is a Detroit native. As a midwest girl who went to graduate school in Michigan and spent some of the best years of my life in that state, that really brought me joy. The brand was founded in 2012 with the mission of seeking to move away from superficial or trendy beauty standards. I love that Melissa, as a Black woman, understands our beauty needs and is looking to blaze her own trail in the makeup world.

As with most things, when Walmart launched with Black Owned Beauty Brands this month, I also had the opportunity to try a few more of my favorites by the brand. I recommend the following:

  • Bawse Lady is a holy grail, never fail, MUST have.

  • The Lip Bar Vegan Lip Gloss in the shade Baddie is the perfect gloss! It’s not too sticky and it has a very high shine. You can wear it with or without a liner.

  • The Lip Bar Vegan Lip Gloss in the shade Dream Chaser is the perfect pinkish purple for deep skin tones! You don’t need a liner but it goes great with NO Chaser liner!

  • Lastly, I recommend the Unimpressed mascara because it’s a great introduction to the brand as well.

So excited for the growth of this brand and for Walmart’s commitment to supplier diversity. I hope you check them out!
